“A smoked kingfish carpaccio is dressed in yuzu olive oil and flying-fish roe. And smoked duck breasts are decorated with miniature dollops of ricotta and a caramelised-fig sauce. “Absolutely superb! We came as a group of six and had a selection of four entrees to share, followed by a main dish each. The in-house smoked meats and fish are to die for; delicate in flavour and deliciously presented in each dish. My choice was the Crab & Smoked Kingfish Tagliatelle with Pine Nut Pesto and every moutfull was a treat. Others in the group opted for the Roasted Ocean Trout Fillet and Beef & Smoked Marrow Ragu alla Bolognese Pappardelle, all of them excellent. Since our last visit, Grolla have opted to become fully licensed and non-BYO drinks, which was of some concern to several in the group. However, a look at the wine list assured us we had little to worry about. It offers a very nice selection of Italian white, red and rose wines and all are reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. We were too full for desserts but did manage to share a couple of small ones, all of which were superb. Well done Paolo and team for doing a great job.
